Naturally Productive
This large, mature north-facing garden is given over to entertaining, relaxing and the production of fresh fruit, herbs and vegetables. The large patio is given a warm natural stone treatment in a mixture of gravel and paving, to break up the expanse and create variations in texture. Space for entertaining and relaxing occupies the sunny area of the patio, where raised beds made from natural timber define the paved seating area and bring planting and herbs close to the house. The retaining wall is screened by trellis panels and climbers, and topped with an elegant metal railing.
Steps lead down to the rest of the garden to be developed at a later date – a curving lawn will meander between existing fruit trees, with planted borders creating colour and interest visible from the house and patio, and a vegetable patch enclosed by low hedging. A rustic arch will lead to a shady, secluded woodland garden.
